Line, Mark, Linear Codes and Touch

This reading is chapter 4 out of the large text, The Primacy of Drawing, By Deanna Petherbridge, who was a speaker at the “Is Drawing Dead?” symposium @ yale last week. She is a practicing artist, historian and “professor of drawing” at the University of Arts, London. She presented on the first day of the symposium, which was devoted to historical considerations and definitions of drawing. I recommend we frame this text in terms of the role of drawing vs image in architectural practice and theory and, more specifically, relative to mechanization for representation/thinking/making. This text was published in 2010 by Yale University Press.
